A Warm Welcome to Nursery Caterpillars!

In Nursery, we run a morning only session. Our day begins at 8:45 and runs until 11:45.

In Caterpillars class Mrs Grant-Muller is the Nursery class teacher and working alongside her is Mrs Bartlett, our Nursery Nurse and Miss Dowse our classroom assistant.

At Ingrow, we offer a curriculum rich in wonder and memorable experiences. We work hard to provide a stimulating environment that provides exciting opportunities, promotes challenge, exploration, adventure and a real love of learning. Our adults are passionate about providing the children with the very best early education and are specialists in nurturing the children and supporting them to develop a curiosity and love of learning. Our curriculum is bespoke and builds upon our children’s life experiences, to provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to be the best they can be.

We explore our bespoke curriculum through the following topics:

To help our youngest children get to know Ingrow School and the people in it, we will take the children on exciting exploring adventures around school. We will visit the school library, get to know what happens in the school office and explore our many outside areas. We want our Nursery children to have a real sense of belonging to our school community.

A typical day in Nursery consists of settling in time where we welcome the children each day and register them, carpet time where we share stories and carry out activities relating to our topic or child interest, milk time, outdoor choosing time followed by maths time and story.

In our choosing time there are plenty of opportunities to learn through play both through our fantastic indoor and outdoor classrooms come rain or shine!

We aim to keep you up-to-date with all the fun we have through our online platform, Class Dojo. We work in partnership with our parents, so please speak to us if you have and queries.

Stay and play every Friday! 11:00 – 11:45.

Grown-ups are invited in at 11am until home time to share in some caterpillar capers in the classroom. The lower gate on Broomhill Avenue will be opened at 11am promptly and closed shortly after. If you are planning to attend, please arrive on time for the gate opening.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our classroom and sharing our learning!

Phonics

At Ingrow we follow the Read Write Inc. phonics programme. During the summer term we begin to introduce the set 1 sounds to our older N2 children to prepare them for entering reception in September. Before this we focus on reading stories and rhymes to the children and developing their love of books.

Reading to children is the best way of encouraging them to love books and reading. By reading stories aloud to your children every day, you are forming a link for them between reading, and comfort and love.
