PE Expenditure

PE and Sport at Ingrow Primary School
At Ingrow Primary School, we believe that physical education plays a vital role in helping our children to stay healthy, active, and confident. Our PE curriculum is designed to be engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable, ensuring every child has the opportunity to develop their physical skills and a lifelong love of sport.
We are proud to work in partnership with the Keighley Cougars Rugby League team, who visit our school each week to deliver high-quality PE lessons and lunchtime clubs. This partnership is part of our wider PE and enrichment programme.
Our approach to PE also reflects our Bee Rules:
- Be Kind – we show good sportsmanship and support one another.
- Be Safe – we learn how to use equipment and play games safely.
- Be Respectful – we listen to coaches, follow rules, and respect our opponents.
- Be Inquisitive – we try new sports, ask questions, and challenge ourselves.
PE and Sport Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is additional funding provided by the government to improve the quality of physical education, physical activity, and sport in primary schools.
At Ingrow, this funding has helped us to:
- Improve staff confidence in teaching PE and sport.
- Increase pupil engagement in regular physical activity.
- Raise the profile of PE and sport across the school.
- Offer a broader and more equal range of sports and physical activities.
- Increase participation in extra-curricular activities.
- Invest in sustainable equipment and resources.
Swimming and Water Safety
By the end of primary school, pupils are required to meet the National Curriculum expectations for swimming and water safety.
Baseline Assessment: At the start of the Year 5 swimming programme, 18 out of 29 pupils were assessed as non-swimmers.
Group 1 Swimming Data (Academic Year 2025–26)
- 52% of pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
- 31% of pupils can use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke).
- 31% of pupils can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Swimming provision is delivered in Year 5. The data above reflects the most recent assessment of the current swimming cohort.
Impact and Next Steps
The baseline data demonstrates that a significant proportion of pupils began the programme as non-swimmers. The Year 5 swimming programme has enabled a number of pupils to make measurable progress towards the National Curriculum expectations.
We will continue to prioritise swimming provision and use PE and Sport Premium funding strategically to support pupils who have not yet met the required standard, ensuring improved participation, increased confidence and sustained outcomes over time.
