Welcome to Year 5
Year 5 marks the beginning of Upper Key Stage 2 and is an exciting and important step in children’s learning journey. It is a year where pupils grow in confidence, independence and curiosity, while beginning to take greater ownership of their learning.
In Year 5, we foster a calm and purposeful environment guided by our Bee Rules, encouraging children to be kind, be safe, be respectful and be inquisitive in everything they do.
Our Year 5 classes, Bats and Deer, are taught by Miss Meares, Mrs Davey and Mrs Higgins, supported by Mrs Pearson, Mrs Hodgkins, Miss Khatoun, Mrs Kendall, Miss McDonnell and Miss Lockley, who work closely together to provide a consistent and positive experience for all pupils.
The Best Bits of Year 5
“I love the range of stories that we enjoy in Year 5, especially ‘The Soup Movement’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’.”
– Mrs Higgins
“I enjoy the trips in Year 5, most notably going to the Alhambra to see the Pantomime! Oh yes it is!”
– Mrs Davey
“We have exciting units in History and Geography. It’s great to immerse ourselves in the topics and explore in depth. I’m looking forward to having our Viking visitor in school!”
